What is IVF?
In vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a groundbreaking treatment for infertility in both men and women. It involves combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory setting to achieve fertilization. Our IVF specialists perform the following steps,
- EMature eggs are retrieved from the uterus
- Sperm is collected and separated from the semen in the lab
- Fertilization happens in our safe, hygienic lab setting
- Close monitoring of the embryo (fertilized egg)
- The embryo is transferred to the uterus for implantation

Step-By-Step IVF Journey at Nakshatra
Our comprehensive IVF treatment follows a proven step-by-step process with personalized care at every stage.
Initial Assessment
Before beginning the IVF procedure, the couple’s health is thoroughly evaluated, and diagnostic tests are recommended if necessary.
Ovarian stimulation
The ovaries are stimulated with fertility hormones that help produce several mature eggs to boost success rate, and prevent errors.
Egg retrieval
Once the eggs are mature, they are retrieved from the ovaries. This procedure is usually done under sedation to minimise discomfort.
Sperm retrieval
The male partner’s sperm is collected either earlier or on the same day as egg retrieval. The sample is then processed to separate sperm from the semen.
Fertilization
The retrieved mature eggs are combined with sperm for fertilization, either using a conventional technique or the ICSI method, based on the clinical need.
Development of embryo
The fertilized eggs or the embryos are carefully monitored for 5 to 6 days to evaluate their development.
Transfer of embryo
One or more of the developed embryos are transferred to the uterus using a catheter for implantation.
Post-Transfer care
For about two weeks after transfer, medicines may be suggested to support implantation. A pregnancy test is then performed to confirm results.
Follow-Up care
Irrespective of the pregnancy test result, a follow-up consultation is essential to plan the next step with your doctor.
